Basic Obedience

This class is geared toward dogs six months and older; especially second-hand dogs. The purpose of this class is to build a foundation of good communication between the dog and it’s human family by introducing basic obedience commands and manners. This class develops a happy, thinking dog who enjoys learning and  working with people, as well as a dog that is enjoyable to be around.

Beyond Basic Obedience

You and your dog have learned a lot in your basic obedience/puppy classes. But there is still training ahead to insure that your dog reliably does what you ask, whenever you ask. After all getting Spot to lie down when he wants to chase a squirrel is pretty advanced training. But that’s when you need it most, so now is the time to start pushing the limits of your dog’s abilities.

BEYOND BASIC OBEDIENCE classes take you to that level. It’s the proofing stage, or teaching your dog to respond in different contexts and while distracted by other things. Each month will focus on a different set of skills so you pick which skills to work with.

Family Dog

This class focuses on teaching humans how to live with the family dog. It will help you understand the dog’s perspective (why dogs do what they do) and change unwanted behaviors through behavior modification. Not only will this class work on basic commands,  but we will also highlight other important subjects such as grooming, leadership, luring, and going to bed.

Flyball

Fly ball is the fastest growing dog sport in the world! It is a team sport like no other. The “team” is comprised of 4 handlers and 4 dogs who all work together. They work to get all 4 dogs down a 51-foot racing lane over four jumps and return with a ball in the their mouth one at a time. If this sounds like a Saturday afternoon at your house, this is the sport for you!

Grumpy Growlers

This 6-week class is being offered for grumpy growlers age 9 months or older. Dogs must be evaluated by an instructor to be eligible to participate. Prior to the first class, owners must attend a two-hour lecture covering the behavior modification techniques that will be used in class. Owners and their dogs will then attend six weeks of class where they will practice these techniques with their dog. There are no promises dogs will be able to play with others after class ends; however they will begin to learn how to practice self-control when around other dogs.

Home Visits / Private Tutoring

We offer this training option to work with individuals with special needs such as aggression. However, once the goals are met, the handler and dog will be directed to start a training class to further their education and keep all work on a positive track.

Puppy I, II & III

Our puppy classes are taught with positive motivation techniques using food, verbal, and physical praise. Puppy classes build a foundation of good communication between the puppy and their human family. There are four phases to dog training—teaching, training, proofing, and trialing.  Puppy I is the teaching phase, Puppy II begins the training phase, and Puppy III continues the training phase and begins the proofing phase. Each session is six weeks long, or you can purchase the “Puppy Package” which consists of all three classes!

Rally Obedience

Rally obedience is a new dog sport that’s sweeping the nation. It was created to promote a positive relationship between the dog and its owner. Animation and enthusiasm throughout the performance is encouraged. Emphasis is on fun and excitement for the dog, handler, and the spectators, by providing a more “natural” approach to the performance. Rally O! is a great way to hone up on your obedience skills. It has something to offer every dog and every owner.
